Christmas wish list

I have so much Christmas knitting to get done and not nearly enough time to do it. How did Christmas get here so fast?

I've got a back done on this little sweater and I've started a quick pair of kids socks.

If anyone is looking for gift ideas for me I did update my Knit Picks wish list.

Bunny time

For some reason I thought it would be funny to make my younger nieces and nephew a bunny for Christmas. And the my sisters saw them and wanted one. And then friends saw them and wanted one. I sure hope these knitted bunnies multiply like the live ones.

I know the cats like it but...

My current WIP is a Christmas tree skirt that has lots of cables and, while quite lovely, is taking a ton of time to knit up. The cats both love it as you can see.

But the real question is who shall be the ultimate recipient of the tree skirt? My first thought was I would give it to a friend of mine as a wedding gift (he was married in September). I thought it would be nice for their first Christmas together. But then I started thinking, what if they don't like it? And then I give it to them and they act all polite and nice and then shove it in a box somewhere. Or worse, they throw it out or donate it. The yarn for this bad boy was not inexpensive and the amount of time I'm spending on it is not inconsequential. I thought about asking them if they liked it but then would they say yes just to be nice? Should I try to find someone who already likes it (I have a couple of people who have appropriately fawned over it and expressed interest in owning it). Or should I just keep it for myself or, rather, my cats, who seem to have claimed it already.

How's your Christmas knitting going?

WIP Wednesday First day of Spring

Hurray for the first day of spring! While I love winter and the snow I'm always happy for the return of green things and warmer days. Of course Colorado can be temperamental with the weather and I hear there is snow in the forecast for the weekend but I'm going to ignore that right now.

Currently I am working on Anne Hanson's Longshadows scarf. This was a pattern from her Fall in Full Color 2011 club. I am actually doing two at a time so it's a little slow going. It's not a terribly complicated pattern but I do have to pay attention. It's Anne Hanson lace after all. I decided to set it out on the counter so every time I pass it I can bang out a row or two. Gonna get these finished!

Also on the needles is the latest in Woolgirl's Poet's club, Root and Bud hat. I finished the cowl and loved the yarn so much I ordered more so I could do the hat. It is going pretty quick.

And tonight at knit night I will probably work on stitching up the elephant.

What are you working on?

Trying to get my knit on

I have been a member of The Rockin' Sock Club since 2007. This year marks year 7. How many kits have I knit up, you ask? With 6 kits per year that's 36 kits I have so far. And I have knit up a grand total of 1 pair. Seriously. One pair out of 36. This seems, well, just wrong. So in 2013 I plan to remedy that by starting off knitting each pair as I get them and then working on previous years in the off months.

This month's kit has a pattern called Roadside Attraction and I simply love it. In fact since we get the PDFs before we get the yarn now I decided to start it in some other stash yarn I had been trying to knit up for the last several months but couldn't seem to find the right pattern. This one was perfect.

Don't you agree?

And I think after these are finished up I will do another pair in the club color. I think my plan might just work.
